As Transportation Director, you will oversee the entirety of the Transportation department — coordinating delivery routes, maintaining company vehicles, managing drivers and interfacing with our wholesale customers. You will work closely with the Inventory and Compliance Departments, as well as Metrc track & trace software, to ensure orders are processed correctly and delivered on time with the appropriate paperwork. Ideally, you will have a complex understanding of California geography, transportation routes and traffic, as well as management experience in distribution operations. Your priorities will be to optimize transportation routes, ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and train/maintain a fleet of effective drivers and vehicles.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate weekly transportation schedules based on customer orders (handed off from Inventory team), delivery windows and knowledge of most efficient routes

  • Ensure vehicles are packed with complete orders in an organized system

  • Maintain company vehicles on a regular basis, ensuring they are in compliance with most recent BCC and DOT regulations

  • Train and manage a team of drivers, including: recruiting, scheduling, on-going training and on-call duties when drivers are on the road

  • Interact and problem-solve with clients regarding delivery issues and payment pickup

  • Finalize necessary paperwork for order delivery and payment pickup

  • Receive driver notes and delivery paperwork after orders have been completed and update necessary spreadsheets weekly

  • Establish and maintain relationships with various travel vendors, including setting up Rewards Programs, discounts, etc.

What You'll Need

  • 1-2 years demonstrable experience with fleet management and distribution logistics

  • Knowledge of California geography, transportation routes and traffic trends

  • Leadership experience

  • Ability to communicate well across internal departments and with external customers

  • Quick-thinking, strategic, solution-oriented mindset

  • Ability to multitask, process jobs at the last minute and still maintain a cool head and positive attitude

  • Ability to lift packages up to 50lbs

  • Knowledge of Excel, Google Suite, and general computer literacy
